How Much Does a Laundry Service Cost in Sydney? (2026 Guide)

One service charges per load, another per kilogram, another per item. Here is what things actually cost in 2026 — and the fees worth checking before you book anyone, including us.

The short answer

Across Sydney, a standard wash, dry and fold service generally works out at $20–$50 per load once fees are included. At Serene Wash Sydney, a standard load — about 5kg, roughly what fits in a standard laundry basket — is $30, returned within 24–48 hours, with a flat $15 pickup and delivery fee charged once per order and a $45 minimum order that already includes that fee.

The three pricing models, decoded

Per load. The simplest to budget: one basket of washing, one price. The thing to check is what counts as a load — ours is approximately 5kg weighed dry. If you want darks and whites washed separately and your washing is under one load, it is charged as two loads, because it genuinely runs as two.

Per kilogram. Common for bulk washing and commercial linen. It rewards volume, which is why we price Airbnb and commercial linen per kilogram rather than per item — at changeover volumes it works out considerably cheaper. Our fold-only laundry service is priced per kilogram too.

Per item. Standard for dry cleaning (a blouse, a suit, a coat each have their own price) and used by some services for everyday clothing too. Per-item pricing on everyday washing adds up fastest, so always convert to a per-basket figure before comparing.

What usually costs extra — anywhere

  • Speed: same-day express costs more than the standard 24–48 hour turnaround (ours is $40 a load against $30 standard).
  • Bedding and bulky items: doona covers and sheet sets wash separately from clothing, so they are charged as their own load(s). Doonas, blankets and pillows are usually priced individually — see our guide to doona cleaning.
  • Special care: hand washing, delicates and sensitive detergents can carry a small per-item or per-load fee ($5 per hand-washed item and $3 a load for eco-friendly detergent with us).
  • Dry cleaning: always per item, from about $15 for a blouse to $30+ for suits and long coats.

The fees to check before you book

Headline per-load prices are only half the story. Before booking any Sydney service, check three things:

  • The delivery fee. These range from free to $25 depending on the service and your postcode zone. Ours is a flat $15 per order, every suburb we service, charged once.
  • The minimum order. Some Sydney services set minimums as high as $100 per order. Ours is $45, with tax and the delivery fee included — a single standard load plus delivery already meets it.
  • What “a load” means. A vague load definition is where surprise charges come from. Ask for the weight (ours: ~5kg, about a standard laundry basket).

Is a laundry service worth it against a laundromat?

A laundromat visit costs less in cash — but it costs you the trip, the wait, the drying and the folding, typically two to three hours a week. A pickup service turns that into thirty seconds at your front door. If your time is worth anything at all, the gap between $15 of machines and a $45 collected-and-returned order is smaller than it looks, and for many households it disappears entirely.

The laundromat's real price tag is the two to three hours a week it takes out of your schedule.

NDIS participants: your plan may cover this

If managing washing is difficult because of disability, laundry support can be funded from your Core budget under Assistance with Daily Living, invoiced as NDIS Linen Service – 01_021_0120_1_1. We support self-managed and plan-managed participants — see our NDIS laundry service page for how claiming works, or read our guide to the NDIS laundry line item.

What you would pay with us: a worked example

A typical weekly family order — two standard loads of wash, dry and fold ($60) plus pickup and delivery ($15) — comes to $75, collected from your door and returned folded within 24–48 hours. A single-person order of one load ($30 + $15 delivery = $45) lands exactly on the minimum order.
