Does the NDIS Cover Laundry? Line Item 01_021_0120_1_1 Explained
Short answer: yes. If managing your own washing is difficult because of disability, laundry and linen support can be funded through your NDIS plan — and for many participants it is one of the simplest supports to set up.

This guide explains where laundry sits in your plan, what the line item on your invoice means, and how claiming works whether you are self-managed or plan-managed.
Where laundry sits in an NDIS plan
Laundry support comes out of your Core budget, under Assistance with Daily Living — the part of your plan that funds help with everyday tasks you cannot manage independently. A regular laundry service fits here the same way help with cleaning or meal preparation does: it is a practical support that keeps daily life running.
What line item 01_021_0120_1_1 means
When a laundry provider invoices your plan, the service is billed as:
01_021_0120_1_1
NDIS Linen Service — under Assistance with Daily Living.
This is the support item for an external linen and laundry service: your washing is collected, laundered off-site, and returned to you — as opposed to a support worker doing washing inside your home (which is usually billed under household tasks instead).
Two things worth knowing about this line item:
- It is a quotable support. The NDIS Pricing Arrangements do not set a fixed price cap for it. Instead, the provider gives you a quote — a per-load or per-collection price — and you, your plan manager or your support coordinator check that it fits your plan and budget before the service starts.
- It should line up with your plan. If laundry or linen support is written into your plan goals, claiming is straightforward. If you are not sure whether your plan covers it, ask your plan manager or support coordinator — it is a five-minute conversation.

Who can use an NDIS laundry service
How you claim depends on how your plan is managed:
- Plan-managed participants: the easiest path. The provider invoices your plan manager directly with the correct line item, dates of service and itemised charges. You pay nothing upfront and there is no paperwork on your side.
- Self-managed participants: you receive an NDIS-compliant invoice after each service and claim it back through the myplace portal. A proper invoice — with the line item, service dates and itemised charges — makes this a two-minute job.
- Agency-managed (NDIA-managed) participants: your options depend on provider registration. Talk to your support coordinator about what is available under your plan.

What a good NDIS laundry service actually looks like
The service itself should not feel like an “NDIS product” — it should just be good laundry service, with the paperwork handled correctly behind the scenes. With Serene Wash Sydney that means:
- Collection from your door across Sydney's Inner West, Canterbury-Bankstown and St George — collections run daily, arranged around you rather than a fixed route day.
- Wash, dry and fold for everyday clothing, plus bedding, towels and linen; ironing and dry cleaning on request.
- Standard turnaround of 24–48 hours (48–72 for bedding and dry cleaning), returned folded and ready to put away.
- A regular weekly or fortnightly schedule with no lock-in contracts — the schedule changes whenever your needs do.
- Every invoice issued with NDIS Linen Service – 01_021_0120_1_1, ready for your plan manager or your myplace claim.

For support coordinators and plan managers
Coordinators set up many of our schedules on participants' behalf. One call or email with the participant's suburb and preferred frequency is enough — we confirm the arrangement with you and the participant before the first pickup, and invoices go straight to the plan manager with nothing to chase or correct.
Common questions
Does using a laundry service use up much of a plan? A weekly collection is typically a modest, predictable line in a Core budget — and because the support is quotable, the cost is agreed before anything starts.
Can it be a one-off? Yes — one-off, weekly or fortnightly. Many participants start with a single collection to see how it works.
What if I only need bedding done? That is exactly what the linen service line item is for. Sheets, towels and doonas are common requests.
