At Serene Wash Sydney, our doona cleaning service is different from a standard “take it to the laundromat, wash it, dry it and return it” service. Before we clean your doona, we first inspect the fabric, filling, care label, stains and overall condition so we can decide what type of cleaning it actually needs.
We clean according to what your doona needs
Different doonas can require very different care.
Depending on the doona and its care instructions, we may:
- Wash and dry it to remove everyday dirt, sweat and odours
- Wash and line dry it when the care label recommends avoiding tumble drying
- Dry clean it when the fabric or filling requires dry cleaning
- Treat specific stains before cleaning
- Use a combination of washing and dry cleaning when needed — for example, washing to freshen the doona and remove odours, followed by dry cleaning where additional stain treatment is required
Rather than putting every doona through exactly the same process, we choose the cleaning method based on the individual item.
Why does this matter?
Doonas come in many different materials and fillings, including feather and down, wool, cotton and synthetic fibres.
A cleaning method that works perfectly for one doona may not be suitable for another. Excessive heat, incorrect washing or inappropriate drying can affect the filling, shape or fabric of a doona.
That is why we check the manufacturer's care label and condition of the doona first, then select the most appropriate cleaning method.
One price — even when more than one cleaning method is needed
One of the biggest differences with our doona service is that the cleaning process your doona needs is included in the quoted price.
If we determine that your doona would benefit from both washing and dry cleaning, you won't suddenly be charged separately for two different cleaning services.
We take responsibility for choosing the appropriate cleaning process and completing the work required to give your doona the best possible clean.

Doona cleaning questions
How much does doona cleaning cost in Sydney?
At Serene Wash Sydney a doona is $35 for a single, $50 for a double or queen, $60 for a king and $70 for a super king. That one price covers whatever cleaning method the doona needs, plus a flat $15 pickup and delivery fee charged once per order.
Can a feather and down doona be washed?
Often, yes, but it depends on the care label and the condition of the doona. Feather and down doonas need gentle washing and thorough, low-heat drying so the filling does not clump. Where the label says dry clean only, or the fabric would not cope with washing, we dry clean it instead. We inspect every doona before deciding.
How often should a doona be cleaned?
Most doonas benefit from a proper clean once or twice a year, more often if there has been a spill, illness, or if anyone in the household has allergies. A doona cover protects the doona between cleans but does not stop body oils and perspiration reaching the filling over time.
